THANK YOU to all the community members and friends who stepped up to help with this festival! We have enough volunteers to fill all the positions so if you were thinking about volunteering, please feel free to enjoy the festival as an attendee. (If you have emailed Festival Director Fiona but have not received a response, she’s been experiencing problems with emails but she WILL get back to you with your assignments. She hopes to have this resolved tomorrow or Sunday. Thank you for your patience.)
Again, thank you SO much for being willing to give us your time and we’ll see you on Saturday, June 9! Keep your fingers crossed for GREAT weather!
Hello friends and neighbors!
We are still in need of helpers for this year’s Wine and Jazz Festival. This year’s festivities take place on Saturday, June 9th, from 11a-6p. There are over fifty wines to sample, four bands, food vendors, craft vendors and new this year, the historic home of Charles Washington will be open for tours.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
~~Friday set-up (time to be determined but probably late morning)- setting up tables and chairs under main tent, setting up tasting tents with tables and wine paraphrenalia, setting up a large lawn banner, setting up direction signs, stacking and sorting wine, etc.
~~Saturday set-up (8a-11a) – set up entry tables, chairs and tents for check-in station and ticket sales station, put table clothes on tables under main tent, place signage in tasting tents, stocking tasting tents with appropriate wines, set up stanchions, etc.
~~Saturday at the event (11a-6p) – we will have two shifts during this time: 11a-3p, and 2p-6p). Duties include (but not limited to) staffing the entry table where folks enter the festival (checking IDs, handing out glasses, taking payment, operating a credit card machine, etc.), runners to go between tasting tents and refrigerated truck to re-stock wines, parking, restocking ice in chill tanks, etc.
~~Saturday clean-up (6p-7p) – collecting open bottles of wine and returning to refrigerated truck, breaking down tables and chairs, breaking down tasting tents, removing table clothes, removing signs and paraphernalia from tasting tents, collecting trash and recycling, gathering lawn signs, putting away unused wine glasses, etc.
What are YOUR perks for giving us your hard-earned time? You will receive free entry to the festival, a wine glass to take home (you have to be over 21), and you may also enjoy tasting the wines that are available (have to be over 21).
If you are interested in any of the aforementioned duties, please send an email ASAP to Fiona Harrison, Wine Festival Director, at h.f.harrison@gmail.com and let her know what shifts and what position(s) you are interested in. Please also include a phone number in your email.
Thanks! We’ll see you on June 9th (or 8th, depending…)!
