For the last four years, many committed supporters have helped to secure the future for Charles Washington’s Happy Retreat, the 1780 home of the founder of Charles Town, West Virginia, for community benefit, for public enjoyment and for heritage education. The community’s contributions of service, funding and good will have enabled and inspired The Friends of Happy Retreat to work with the Gavin Family, the current property owners, to pursue an ambitious vision for this beautiful historic estate.
